Business school, then my own web agency in 2005. Media agency the year after, where I built the ad sales arm from scratch. Six years at News Republic growing a news app across Europe, until Cheetah Mobile acquired it. At Sud Ouest since 2017: mobile marketing, then product owner, now analyst.
One question the whole way through: how an audience gets built, and how it turns into revenue.
I shipped my first product end to end before asking whether anyone wanted it. Payment, OAuth, database, GDPR, transactional emails, documentation — all of it, done properly. The one thing I never checked was whether anyone was looking for it. Nobody was.
So I wrote the thing I should have had first. Five gates, ordered from cheapest to most expensive to check, each one eliminating. The gates aren't the interesting part — the log is.
I wanted to see a whole year at a glance — one colour a day, twelve months on a single screen. Nothing did it the way I had in mind, so I built it with AI instead. Not one line typed by me — every single one read, questioned and approved before it shipped.
Two months later it was live, and it's a real product: subscriptions, OAuth, a database, GDPR, transactional email, a printable poster. I still open it every evening. That part works.
What I got wrong is everything that comes after shipping. Hardly anyone knows it exists, and that's on me — not on the product.
Same idea as before, in the right order this time. I checked the demand existed before writing a line: people already search for the French median salary. The answer was out there — as articles. Nobody had turned it into a tool.
Public statistics, turned into one sentence about you. Your salary never leaves your browser: nothing is sent, nothing is stored, so there's no cookie banner to dismiss.
One playlist out of many. This one comes running with me. It's dated, like everything I listen to — I got stuck somewhere around 2010 and never really tried to get out.
